
About Centre for Panchayti Raj
The objective of the Panchayat Raj Centre, Faculty of Law, SGT University is
to strengthen the capacity of the Panchayat Raj Centre to deliver effective and accountable
governance, and to promote decentralized planning and community participation. The Panchayat
system is a crucial component of India’s democratic framework, aimed at ensuring grassroot
democracy and empowering local communities. Through a structured three-tier system and
constitutional backing, it plays a vital role in local governance and development.
Its aim is to conduct research and documentation on Panchayati Raj, decentralized governance and
to disseminate best practices and innovations. To facilitate networking and collaboration among
the Panchayat Raj Centre, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to promote
knowledge sharing and best practices.


2024-25 Milestone and Achievement:
- The Centre for Panchayati Raj was established in the month of August 2024.
- A Seminar on ‘Orientation on Panchayati Raj’ was conducted under the Panchayati Raj Centre on September 9th, 2024.
- Classes on the subject - ‘Basic Concept and Constitutional form of Panchayat’ were conducted for students of the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Behavioural Sciences.
- A Workshop on Panchayat Raj System was conducted under the Panchayati Raj Centre on December 3rd, 2024.
- Online meeting for improvement of work of Panchayat Raj Centre on 12 February 2025.
