SGT University Marks Charak Jayanti 2025 with a Lifesaving Blood Donation Drive
In a heartfelt tribute to the father of Ayurveda, Acharya Charak, SGT University celebrated Charak Jayanti 2025 with a day dedicated to service, compassion, and community well-being. The highlight of the celebration was a Blood Donation Camp, organized by the SGT Ayurveda Hospital in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Gurugram, under the banner of the Punararva Association Club.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the university community, with more than 65 students and faculty members stepping forward to donate blood and support this noble cause.
Prof. (Dr.) Anil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Indian Medical System (Ayurveda), reflected on the deeper meaning behind the initiative, stating, "Blood donation is not just a medical act, it is the act of giving life to others. This aligns perfectly with the fundamental philosophy of Acharya Charak, who dedicated his life to healing and service to humanity."
Echoing this sentiment, Prof. (Dr.) Poornima Baliga Bantwal, Pro Vice Chancellor, SGT University, said, "One unit of blood can be separated into six components, potentially saving or improving the lives of six different individuals. It’s a small act with a profound impact, an embodiment of compassion and service."
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma, lauded the efforts of the faculty and students, adding, "This blood donation drive reflects how timeless Ayurvedic values like selfless service and compassion can find meaningful expression in today’s world."
The celebrations also included a soulful prayer, ceremonial lamp lighting, and a powerful recitation (Parayan) of the Charaka Samhita. Students and faculty took the Charaka Oath, reaffirming their commitment to ethical Ayurvedic practice.
The keynote session was also delivered by Dr. Sanghamitra Dash, founder and CEO of Ayursure Ayurved Academy, who spoke on Ayurveda’s evolving role in global wellness and personalized care.
The event concluded with a blood donation awareness talk by Prof. (Dr.) Satish Garg, marking a day of learning, service, and celebration.
Charak Jayanti 2025 at SGT University exemplified the harmony of heritage, health, and humanity, reinforcing its vision of holistic education rooted in Indian values.
