Department of
Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy
The Department of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy stands as a dynamic
centre for both academic
excellence and clinical
expertise. Dedicated to the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular and
respiratory disorders, the
department plays a pivotal role in shaping competent physiotherapists and delivering
comprehensive patient care.
As a teaching and clinical unit, we provide a strong academic foundation alongside hands-on
training to undergraduate
and postgraduate students. The department emphasises evidence-based learning, critical
thinking, and skill development
in cardiopulmonary assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention.
Clinically, we offer specialised rehabilitation services for a wide range of conditions,
including chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, bronchiectasis, post-COVID pulmonary complications,
interstitial lung disease,
coronary artery disease, post-surgical recovery, heart failure, and intensive care unit
(ICU) support. Treatment
protocols are designed to improve ventilation, enhance exercise tolerance, restore
functional capacity, and promote
long-term health.
